18 T1 Orgs Shut Down Their BGMI Operation after Krafton’s New Law

Following new regulations introduced by Krafton India, several Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports organizations have shut down their services. BGMI, one of the most popular games in India, has been a major platform for competitive tournaments. Many players consider it a career path, participating in both official and unofficial events.

Krafton’s new rule mandates that all teams, even the top ones, must go through quarterfinals, semifinals, and then finals. This has added extra pressure on teams, particularly in a scene already plagued by other issues. The BMPS 2024 tournament was marred by accusations of cheating, with teams like Team IQOOSOUL, Team Global Esports, and Team Carnival Gaming failing to qualify for the finals due to cheaters in the lobbies. Krafton’s lack of serious action against cheaters and absence of anti-cheat software has frustrated the community.

Salaries are another pressing issue. Top-tier players demand an average of ₹1.5 lakh per month, but if cheaters dominate the competition, organizations lose money when their teams fail to qualify for finals. Organizations invest large sums, ranging from ₹7 to 8 lakh, in their teams. If they can’t even qualify for the finals due to cheaters, it leads to financial losses. With only two official tournaments and a handful of third-party events each year, organizations struggle to sustain operations when cheaters disrupt the competitive balance.

Also we can see salary drop of major pro players. There are rumors that salary is going to drop from 1.5 lakhs to 50 thousand which is a massive drop.

As a result, 18 major teams from the Tier 1 community have decided to cease operations, citing the cheating problem and unsustainable financial conditions. If this continues, it threatens the very foundation of BGMI esports, leaving fewer opportunities for legitimate competition. These 18 teams are –

SG, TSM, 7seas, Redowl, CES, XO, IND,

Enigma, NGX, Windgod, GDR, Midwave,

OR, VLT, ENT,Hydra,8tbit and GE
